CHECHNYA'S FIRST HEAT AND ELECTRICITY PLANT STARTED

MOSCOW, December 20 (RIA Novosti) - On Monday President of the Chechen Republic Alu Alkhanov visited the Argun heat and electric power plant.

It first turbo-generator of six megawatts was started up not long before.

"For the Chechen Republic it is the first generating capacity put into service after the hostilities," reads a communique of RAO Unified Energy Systems of Russia received by RIA Novosti.

Its becoming part of the system will improve the quality of electric supply and become an independent source of power for the enterprises of the town of Argun (Shali district in southeastern Chechnya), the press release says.

Thanks to this facility, the town will be able to create over 3,000 jobs additionally and in part resolve the problem of employment for the local population.
