MOSCOW, December 18 (RIA Novosti) - Russian figure-skater, world and European champion Yevgeny Plyushchenko has won the ISU Grand Prix finals in Beijing.

Having performed the short and free programs, the Russian figure-skater gained 251.75 points.

Yevgeny Plyushchenko's participation in the finals of this prestigious series became known not long ago before the Beijing tournament.

At the beginning of the season the figure-skater and his coach Alexei Mishin had decided to focus on preparations for the world championship. The Cup of Russia was the only Grand Prix stage which Plyushchenko took part in and won.

The victory at one stage of the series is not enough to participate in the finals, however, American Johnny Weir was injured and had to miss the finals. After that, Yevgeny Plyuschenko was included in Top 6 figures-skaters qualified for the finals.

Last year the Russian star took the second place, however, in 2004 he grabbed the victory by a head over his rivals.

Canadian Jeffrey Buttle (216.65 points) and Chinese Chengjiang Li (201.07) points took the second and third places.
