MOSCOW, December 17 (RIA Novosti) - Gazpromneft has applied for an upcoming Yuganskneftegaz auction and made a pledge to the Russian Federal Property Fund. The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service authorized it to bid for Yukos' principal production branch, Alexander Stepanenko, Gazpromneft official spokesman, said to RIA Novosti.

The Russian Federal Property Fund is arranging the auction next Sunday, December 19, to sell a 76.79% Yuganskneftegaz block, at an initial 246,753,447,303 rubles ($1=27.84 rubles). Ordinary Yuganskneftegaz shares will come in one lot, each at a nominal 177,889 rubles and 80 kopecks. Yukos comes as block proprietor and debtor.

Applications for the one-step auction are welcome from November 19 through December 18. The step has been appointed at 1-10% of the starting price.

There are presently four corporate bidders, Gazpromneft, the First Venture Company, the closed-end joint stock company Intercom, and the Baikalfinansgroup open-end joint stock company. The Federal Anti-Monopoly Service has approved their applications, its press service spokesman said to RIA Novosti.

Yukos and all its major branches have their assets and deposits under arrest. The federal Justice Ministry determined to auction off the Yuganskneftegaz for mother company fiscal arrears.

The Gazprom Directors' Board approved its petroleum branch's bid.

Gazpromneft was established on a second stage of an all-round Gazprom reform. It envisages consolidation of Gazprom business branches in independent juridical persons. Petroleum and gas condensate extraction, storage and transportation are principal Gazpromneft fields of activity.
