TEHRAN, December 16 (RIA Novosti's Nikolai Terekhov) - Hamid Reza Assefi, official representative of the Iranian Foreign Ministry, has called unacceptable inviting a leader of the terrorist group Organization of Mujaheddin of the People of Iran (OMIN) for a conversation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

"Inviting a leader of the outgoing OMIN to a PACE session is unacceptable and in support of terrorism," Mr. Assefi said.

"Inviting a terrorist by three PACE parliamentarians, who used to have close contacts with members of the said group, arouses suspicions," he noted.

RIA Novosti was told at the press service of the Iranian Foreign Ministry on Thursday that Mr. Assefi had called upon PACE to take care and "limit contacts between its parliamentarians and members of the terrorist group, which may result in the loss of authority of PACE and public mistrust in it."

The OMIN group is an opposition party. In recent years, its radically minded members in cooperation with the Saddam Hussein dictatorial regime engaged in subversive activities against the Islamic Republic. After the war and the occupation of Iraq, OMIN was neutralized and disarmed. However, under the observation of the American political forces political activity goes on despite Washington and the European Union officially declaring the group as terrorist.
