RUSSIAN FOREIGN MINISTER DISCUSSES SITUATION IN MIDDLE EAST AND IRAQ IN MOROCCO

MOSCOW, December 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Saltanov, currently in Rabat, held political consultations with Morocco's Minister-Delegate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Taieb Fassi Fihri and met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Mohammed Benaissa, said the information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The sides "considered key international and regional problems."

"They focused on the situation in the Middle East and Iraq, the Western Sahara settlement and developments on the African continent," the Foreign Ministry reported.

The sides expressed "mutual interest in further regular interaction and consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries."

Mr. Saltanov arrived in Morocco to participate in the session of the Forum for the Future aimed to develop dialogue and promote political and economic reforms in the Middle East and Northern Africa. Foreign and finance ministers of G8 and 20 states of the Middle East and Northern Africa are taking part in the forum, which has opened on Saturday.
