NOVOSIBIRSK, December 7 (RIA Novosti's Yana Ryabinskaya) - The Novosibirsk-based State Scientific Centre for Virology and Biotechnology Vektor has come up with a vaccine protecting against hepatitis A and B at a time, its press service told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.

"The bi-vaccine, whose development began at Vektor back in 1998, will not only protect from the two infections but also cut half the number of inoculations", the press service said.

Specialists say that the first pilot batch will appear in 2006.

According to the centre, viral hepatitis A and B account for the bulk of the hepatitis incidence among children and adults. A combination of the two is often met these days. Vaccinal prevention of viral hepatitis A and B is efficacious in cutting the disease rate.
