SOFIA, December 6 (RIA Novosti's Sergei Ryabikin) - Russia is determined to help the OSCE get over its crisis, Alexander Yakovenko, Ministry of Foreign Affairs official spokesman, said to Russian journalists upon arrival to Sofia. The Bulgarian capital will shortly host a foreign-ministerial council session of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Leading the Russian delegation is Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

"To help the OSCE to overcome its crisis and secure a place of honour among the European multilateral institutions is Russia's goal," said Mr. Yakovenko.

The diplomat strongly warned against the practice of double standards, selective use of OSCE instruments, and establishment of new demarcation lines. Due to all that, "the Organisation runs the danger of losing its international prestige and the very point of its existence," he stressed.
