According to information provided by the Chechen Interior Ministry, a large-scale terrorist act was prevented in the Zavodskoi district of Grozny.
"During a search in a destroyed building on Griboyedova Street, operatives discovered and safely liquidated a self-made explosive device with 6 kilograms of TNT, shrapnel and electric detonator," the Chechen Interior ministry official stated.
Operatives are conducting an investigation in connection with the attempted terrorist act and are searching for perpetrators.
According to a source in the Chechen law enforcement, the head of the presidential public office on payment of compensation for housing destroyed during the war was kidnapped in Chechnya.
The incident occurred yesterday in the village of Sernovodsk, the source reported.
"A group of unidentified individuals armed with automatic rifles kidnapped head of the presidential public office on payment of compensation for housing destroyed during the war Yakub Gaisumov. The bandits demand a $50,000 ransom for his release," the source underlined.
He said that the same group assaulted the village of Nesterovskaya in Ingushetia (republic neighboring on Chechnya).
