PROTOCOL ON RUSSIA'S ACCESSION TO WTO SIGNED IN THAILAND

BANGKOK, December 2 (RIA Novosti's Sergei Ryabikin, Arseni Oganesyan) - The protocol on Russia's accession to the World Trade Organisation has been signed in Thailand, RIA Novosti learnt from sources in the Foreign Ministry delegation, now in Bangkok.

Earlier on Thursday, Russian chief delegate Sergei Lavrov had a meeting with Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Chinnawat.

Sergei Lavrov and his Thai analogue Surakiat Satienthai told the premier of work done on the agreements reached at the last meetings between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Thai premier.

Mr. Chinnawat "has expressed great satisfaction over how different agencies in Russia and Thailand are working on the fulfilment of the agreements reached between the two leaders", Sergei Lavrov said.

To him, "the prime minister has confirmed interest in the development of partnership with Russia in every field without exception and voiced great interest in supporting Russia's further integration in the processes of interaction underway in the Asia-Pacific region".

"The talks have been very useful and we have drawn up concrete plans for further steps to be taken to implement the existing decisions", the Russian foreign minister said.

Sergei Lavrov recalled that the Days of Russian Culture opened in Thailand on Thursday. The Days of Thai Culture will be held in Russia in 2005.
