PUTIN APPOINTS POLLYEVA SPECIAL REPRESENTATIVE ON HUMANITARIAN COOPERATION WITH CIS COUNTRIES

MOSCOW, November 22 (RIA Novosti) - Vladimir Putin has appointed his aide Dzhakhan Pollyeva as the presidential special representative for humanitarian cooperation with countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Kremlin press service reported.

"This appointment reflects the priority attention given by the Russian president to the all-round development of contacts within the CIS in the scientific, cultural and humanitarian spheres, further deepening of interdepartmental and interstate coordination towards these ends", the press service explained.

As the presidential aide Pollyeva carried out, among other things, organisational and information-analytical support for the presidential activities in education and science, ensured the preparation of annual draft addresses of the president to the Federal Assembly.

Dzhakhan Pollyeva was born on April 15, 1960 in Ashkhabad in the Turkmen SSR. Graduated from the Moscow-based Lomonosov State University in 1982 and the post-graduate course at the State and Law Institute of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1986. She is Candidate of Law.

In 1998 was appointed deputy head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation.

In March 2004 was appointed aide to the President of the Russian Federation.
