RUSSIA, BRAZIL INTERESTED IN SPACE COOPERATION - BRAZILIAN FOREIGN MINISTRY

RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov 19 (RIA Novosti, Andrei Kurguzov) - Brazil and Russia have a reciprocal interest in development of cooperation in the space sphere, Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim told RIA Novosti.

"In 1997, we signed a framework agreement on cooperation in research and peaceful use of space, which has been valid since August 2002 and is the basis of this developing cooperation between the two countries," said the Foreign Minister.

"In the framework of the intergovernmental commission on cooperation, there is a special subcommission dealing with issues of cooperation in the space sphere," added the minister.

Celso Amorim stressed that mutual understanding was developing between the countries aimed to expand and deepen this cooperation.
