PARIS TO GIVE THE GREEN LIGHT TO SHORT/MEDIUM-HAUL PLANES

PARIS, November 15 (RIA Novosti) - Memorandum of support for the short/medium-haul plane is scheduled to be signed at a sitting of the Russian-French economic, financial, industrial and trade council.

The council's co-chairman Sergei Naryshkin, head of the Russian government staff, said this to journalists on Monday.

He also said that the French side has voiced for speeding up ratification on the European market of the amphibious plane Be-200 and airliner Tu-204.

The Be-200 has been designed in Russia for fighting forest fires. It can take in water for forest-fighting when flying above the water reservoirs. Its navigation complex ensures navigation and flight control at every stage, in any weather, at any time of day and year. A great demand for such aircraft exists in other countries, too. The high complexity of the navigation complex required the use of high-tech in creating the plane. Air specialists made use of the DDC-1 Ada systems on the Intel 80486 platform.

Naryshkin said that the council considered work of the joint venture Avtoframos. Both the sides have ensured the required share of Renault participation in the joint venture, he said. In addition, the Russian side has laid down approaches to the support measures now in development. The measures will be presented as a corresponding resolution of the Russian government.

Sergei Naryshkin also cited other directions where "progress has been made" - cooperation in the training of personnel for business in combating forged products and protecting intellectual property, interaction over Russia's ratification of the Kyoto Protocol, etc.
