MOSCOW, November 14 (RIA Novosti) Chilean Ambassador to Moscow Mario Silberman described Russian President Vladimir Putin's forthcoming visit to Chile as historic.

"Vladimir Putin's visit to Chile will mark a turning point in Russian-Chilean bilateral relations," he told RIA Novosti.

According to the Ambassador, the forthcoming visit will give a fresh impetus to relations between the two countries.

"The first visit of a Russian statesman of such a high level to our country has coincided with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Chile, celebrated this year," the Ambassador underscored.

On major international topics, the two states have close positions or share one view, he said. "This applies to Iraq and the leading role of international law in resolving world conflicts," Silberman argued.

He added that Russia and Chile actively cooperated under the UN auspices. A member state of the World trade Organization, Chile promotes Russia's WTO aspirations, Silberman added.

He said both countries have every opportunity to successfully develop economic cooperation.
