MOSCOW, November 14 (RIA Novosti) On Sunday the Russian capital is hosting the World March Against Diabetes, chief Russian endocrinologist doctor Mikhail Antsyferov told RIA Novosti. The event sponsored by the World Diabetes Foundation and dedicated to World Diabetes Day will start simultaneously in about 40 countries across the globe.
The 30-minute walk in Moscow will involve not only people suffering from diabetes, but also their families and all people who want to know more about this disease.
Each registered participant, Antsyferov said, will be offered free blood sugar express test before the walk.
The Russian Diabetes Association will also hold a research conference on the same day, dedicated to the same issue.
On November 16 the Moscow City Hall will gather Moscow-based and regional anti-diabetes activists for a special conference on the matter.
Antsyferov said that in Moscow alone there were about 200,000 people with diabetes.
