GROZNY, November 13 (RIA Novosti) - On Friday, during a special search operation, a mixed unit consisting of officers from Chechen President's security service and operatives from Russian Federal Security Service and Interior Ministry discovered a weapons cache with a large number of light armaments and various types of ammunition, explosives and detonators for radio-controlled explosive devices, reported officials from Regional Operative Headquarters (ROH) of the counter-terrorist operation in the Northern Caucasus on Saturday.

The weapons cache was located in the village of Sredniye Achaluki in the Malgobeksky district of Ingushetia.

"Information about the cache was received during interrogation of a member of Jamaata Caliphate, who had been detained in October 2004 in Nazran and is under investigation at present," said the source at ROH.

He also said the detained bandit told the interrogators that weapons and ammunition had been delivered to Ingushetia by Khozhbaudi Dushaev, one of Shamil Basayev's lapdogs.

"Leaders of illegal armed gangs planned to distribute these weapons among various bandit groups in Ingushetia. They wanted to conduct a series of terrorist acts and other crimes in order to destabilize the situation in the republic," ROH representative reported.

The plans of bandit leaders were foiled because federal and local law enforcement forces killed Dushaev and his henchmen during a special operation in June of 2003. " Also in May of 2003, we defeated his plans to conduct terrorist acts in North Ossetia using two KAMAZ truck loaded with powerful explosives," ROH official told RIA Novosti.

He added that a criminal case related to this case had been filed, although the suspects were still at large.
