According to her, 20 foreigners and 350 locals are currently involved in the work in this region.
The organization working in Russia since 1992 supplies forced migrants with foodstuffs and living essentials. Moreover, the Red Cross helps restore the infrastructure, in particular, water-supply and sewerage systems in Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan.
The recent visit to Moscow by director of operations of the
International Committee of the Red Cross Pierre Krahenbuhl focused on the problems of the North Caucasus, above all, the problems of the ICRC representatives' visits to people detained in Chechnya and access to the Chechen Republic, the spokesperson said.
In her words, the Russian side confirmed its readiness for further dialogue on this issue.
"We hope to find a solution in the near future," she noted.
During his three-day visit to Russia (November 10 to 12), Pierre Krahenbuhl met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov, Deputy Justice Minister Yuri Kalinin and Deputy Prosecutor General Sergei Fridinsky.
