HEAD OF FOSSIL MAMMOTH IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF RUSSIAN EXPOSITION AT EXPO-2005 IN JAPAN

TOKYO, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - The head of the Yukagir mammoth, symbol of the Russian pavilion at EXPO-2005, will be delivered from Yakutsk, capital of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) to Tokyo on November 19.

The head, front leg and a part of the body of the mammoth will be brought to Japan by a special AN-74 Yakutsk-Nagoya flight, said Vladimir Potapov, general director of the Sakha-Expomammoth joint stock company.

The showpieces will be placed in a special cryogenic container made in Lyons (France). The permanent temperature minus 25 degrees Celsius is maintained in the container.

During EXPO-2005 the mammoth will be exhibited by the entrance to the Russian pavilion in a special glass cube with low temperature made in Japan.

The exposition will close on October 2005 and the mammoth will be returned to Russia in compliance with the Japanese-Yakut agreement.

The second session of commissars of EXPO-2005 national pavilions will be held in Nagoya on Monday. It will focus on the remaining organizing issues.

According to general commissar of the Russian pavilion Vladimir Strashko, security problems and simplified customs regulations are the key issues on the agenda.
