TYUMEN, November 4 (RIA Novosti's Alexander Perestoronin) - The prosecutor's office of the Khanty-Mansi autonomous area in West Siberia has launched criminal proceedings on a helicopter crash, allegedly caused by safety rules ignored.

Owned by Khanty-Mansiisk Avia Co., the MI 8 crashed en route from Khanty-Mansiisk to Batovo via Podgornoye. It had twenty on board-17 passengers and a crew of three. One died in the tragedy, and nine were injured, two of them are in a bad state, say the latest verified statistics.

The craft received an extra cargo on the Nazym geological expedition site, and could not be contacted on the radio since. It capsized in the air while making an emergency landing, for vague reasons, in a taiga area where the Yugra geological expedition bases.
