MOSCOW, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - The KAMAZ Board of Directors unanimously elected Victor Khristenko to chair it, Sergei Kogogin, company Director General, announced to a news conference in Moscow today. Mr. Khristenko is federal Minister of Industry and Energy.

The updated board will have seventeen members-among them, seven federal officers to represent the government on the automotive mammoth's top, and two spokesmen of Tatarstan, where the company central premises and production assets base, said Sergei Kogogin.

The KAMAZ offered detailed coverage of today's board session and its antecedents on the official corporate website. The session was convened as the current Russian administrative reform made it necessary to thoroughly reshuffle the board, and elect an auditing commission. An extraordinary shareholders' meeting of September 29 made a list of board and commission nominees, which came for vote today.

Ilya Klebanov, presidential envoy plenipotentiary to federal district Northwest, was previous company Directors' Board chair.

The KAMAZ open-end joint-stock company leads Russia for lorry output. It was a first Soviet company to shift to shareholding arrangements. That was in 1991, shortly before the USSR collapsed.

The giant corporation has seventeen affiliates, based in Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine.

Dominating KAMAZ-manufactured commodities are lorries, freight-carrying capacity varying from four to twenty tonnes, and diesel engines suited to whatever climate and terrain. The company exports them to more than sixty countries in every part of the world.
