MOSCOW, October 29 (RIA Novosti) - The State Duma is prepared to consider the proposal of the prosecutor-general to detain the terrorists' relatives during acts of terrorism, reported Friday Speaker Boris Gryzlov. "Once relatives of the terrorists are detained, this might help us save the lives of people involved," Vladimir Ustinov said addressing Friday the State Duma.

Commenting on the proposal of the prosecutor-general, the Speaker noted: "If this proposal I've learnt about only today is submitted as an amendment, it will be considered."

The State Duma is now engaged in preparing 44 amendments to the legislation in force as well as the bill "On resistance to terrorism" to be considered during a forthcoming autumn session, said Gryzlov. He noted that legislation underway restricts officers in their operations to rescue hostages.

He specified that relatives of the terrorists are often used for negotiations but they do this on the strictly voluntary basis, added Gryzlov.
