MOSCOW, October 28 (RIA Novosti) - On Thursday Gazprom board chairman Alexei Miller has had in Moscow a working meeting with Thomas J. Donohue, head of the United States Chamber of Commerce, reports the concern's PR service.

"In discussion at the meeting was the perspective for interaction with the United States Chamber of Commerce in the emergence of Gazprom on the American gas market", the communique reads.

In focus at the meeting was the arrangement of production and shipments of liquefied natural gas to the United States.

"The sides have stated that the United States' administration is creating favourable conditions for the development of business cooperation between Gazprom and American energy companies", it goes on to read.

The company notes that the United States is one of the most promising LNG markets in the world. In 2003 the LNG import to the United States increased more than two times, from 4.8 million in 2002 to 11 million tonnes.

The energy information board and the American Department of Energy prophesies that this indicator will come to 47 million tonnes by 2010, own production of gas not meeting the national demand and requiring much larger imports.

There are in the United States four terminals to receive LNG and their total capacity is 18 million tonnes annually. In addition, it is planned to build another ten terminals on the eastern and western coasts having a total capacity of about 60 million tonnes of LNG annually.
