#GAZPROM INSTRUCTED TO END COMPETITION LAW VIOLATIONS#

MOSCOW, October 27 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's Federal Antimonopoly Service has instructed Gazprom to end violations of the Law on Competition, coming in the discriminatory terms of access to "the tube" for independent producers of gas, FAS deputy chief Anatoli Golomolzin told reporters on Wednesday.

"If Gazprom objects, we have what to say in court", he noted.

The antimonopoly agency has built up a vast legislative base and many export conclusions on the matter, he said.

Earlier, the FAS commission admitted that Gazprom and its subsidiaries Mezhregiongaz and Surgutgazprom had violated the competition law by keeping independent producers of gas off "the pipe".

"The FAS commission has found that Gazprom and its subsidiaries have violated Article 5 of the law On Competition and Limiting of the Monopolistic Activities on the Commodity Markets, expressed in the creation for independent suppliers of discriminatory terms of access to the services and gas-supply market", the FAS press service told RIA Novosti.

In turn, the Gazprom press service told RIA Novosti that it was going to litigate the FAS decision.

The FAS service initiated the antimonopoly case in August 2004.

"Experts of the antimonopoly service suppose that the suspect companies impede access to the market for network gas, as well as act in concert resulting in, or fraught with, prevention, limitation, elimination of competition and impinging on the interests of other economic entities", the FAS press release then said.

The FAS agency has demanded additional information from three independent gas suppliers - the Northgaz, NOVATEK and Rospan companies.
