TEHRAN, October 24 (RIA Novosti) - Official spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Hamid Reza Assefi said his country intended to go on with talks with the European Union on Iran's nuclear programs.

"Last week the representatives of the three European nations (Britain, Germany, and France) made their proposals which are under consideration, and we intend to go on with talks with these countries," he told reporters on Sunday.

"Next week we will come up with our proposals on resolving the problem of Iranian nuclear programs at the second round of negotiations that will be held in Vienna," Mr. Assefi said.

According to the Iranian diplomat, "Tehran endorses various countries' efforts to help resolve dispute over the Islamic Republic's nuclear file. Tehran will hold consultations with these countries."

When asked about an unrestricted moratorium on uranium enrichment, he said, "Permanent suspension of this work is out of the question."

"Tehran had previously announced suspension of uranium enrichment in what it thought was a gesture creating an atmosphere of confidence," he added.

Mr. Assefi assessed the Thursday Vienna meetings with diplomats positively, described the meetings as "friendly," and urged the European Union to admit Iran's legitimate right to develop peaceful nuclear technology.

The European Union offers Iran modern nuclear technology and know-how in return for Iran's pledge to drop its full-scale nuclear industry aspirations.
