LAWFULNESS OF ABKHAZIA'S CEC DECISION ON BAGAPSH AS ELECTORAL VICTOR IS TO BE ASCERTAINED - SOURCE

SUKHUMI/MOSCOW, October 11 (RIA Novosti) - Lawfulness of decision of the Central Election Commission of Abkhazia declaring Bagapsh the winner at the presidential election is to be ascertained, a source in the Supreme Court of Abkhazia told RIA Novosti.

To quote: "The lawfulness of the CEC decision is to be ascertained".

At the same time, "minding that the two presidential runners in Abkhazia have made complaints to the Supreme Court for violations during the

election, the court is considering results of the election", he said.

"No decision has yet been made", the source added.

On Monday night, the mass media reported with reference to CEC member Alexander Adleiba that most of the CEC members have signed the protocol declaring Sergei Bagapsh the winner in the presidential race.

On Monday RIA Novosti learnt from the Abkhazia mission in Moscow that on Thursday, October 14, the Supreme Court of Abkhazia will consider the protest of presidential runner Raul Khadzhimba's electoral headquarters against the results of the October 3 presidential election in the Gali district of Abkhazia.

The vote count, making Bagapsh the victor (50.08 percent of the votes) has been made with account for the returns in the Gali district, the interviewee said.

The statement of the Khadzhimba headquarters, sent to the Supreme Court, notes that, in violation of Abkhaz legislation, the lists of voters were made in Georgian and Georgian citizens without Abkhaz citizenship participated in the election with documents other than the regular identity cards.
