15 CONTENDERS TO BOYCOTT AFGHAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS

MOSCOW, October 9 (RIA Novosti) - Fifteen out of 18 presidential contenders, i.e. the opponents of interim Afghan administrator Hamid Karzai, have signed an agreement on boycotting current presidential elections. This decision is motivated by numerous violations, which were exposed already at the beginning of elections.

These unlawful elections are one big fraud, candidates said, adding that they didn't recognize election results.

Hamid Karzai thus remains the only presidential candidate because two other contenders had refused to run several days ago, calling on their electorate to support Karzai.

The national election commission hasn't yet adopted any decision whatsoever. Meanwhile, presidential elections might eventually have to be postponed.
