MOSCOW ARBITRATION COURT TO GET BACK TO YUKOS TAX SUIT, MONDAY

MOSCOW, October 8 (RIA Novosti) - The Moscow Arbitration Court made a break to Monday next, October 11, in hearings on a federal Tax Ministry suit to fine the Yukos petroleum mammoth 40.6 billion roubles, roughly US$1.4 billion, on 2001 fiscal arrears.

Today's court session finished considering evidence on the case, and checked extra tax calculations, our correspondent reports from courtroom.

The defendant's spokesmen denied connection to companies through which it received extra fiscal claims, and complained that the plaintiff had bloated its claims. Thus, say Yukos lawyers, ungrounded claims for an additional 5.7 billion rouble income tax payment are made on Ratibor Co., whose affiliation to the defendant the ministry alleges.

In a concise statement to the court today, the plaintiff's spokesman referred to four Yukos-controlled companies suspected of tax evasion to allege them transferring 83 billion roubles, 2001, to a Yukos-established financial fund for production support.
