MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Boris Makarenko, first deputy director general of the Center of Political Technologies: "I don't think the situation in Chechnya has become normal. Considering that the previous president of the republic was killed in his own capital, and this was followed by a series of terrorist attacks involving Chechen militants, then the situation is not normal in the region," writes Rossiiskaya Gazeta.

The new authorities have many tasks to tackle, and they could be divided into urgent and long-term ones. The former include improving law and order and preventing terrorism. And the main long-term task is to provide the republic with a prospect to develop further. One of Akhmad Kadyrov's misfortunes was that his power system was concentrated on himself too much. Many Chechens saw no prospects for themselves and their relatives in this situation. Valery Khomyakov, director general of the Council for the National Strategy: "The problem is that Alkhanov has retained nearly the entire Kadyrov team on the one hand, and on the other, Dmitry Kozak has appeared in the Southern Federal District as its presidential envoy. We can only hope that the relations with the latter will lead to no conflicts over terms of authority. The joint work with Kadyrov's people may also lead to certain disagreements. The goals of the former president's people are clear: to retain control over all the key posts and oil in Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov, who could not run for the presidency because he was too young, will now be preparing for the next election campaign. Of course, as long as the leadership of the republic has a common goal, serious conflicts are not likely to happen. However, by the end of Alkhanov's term, tension will increase further. And then the new president will have to find compromises with his subordinates.
