MOSCOW, October 5 (RIA Novosti) - According to the operational information, about ten Al-Qaeda members stay in the North Caucasus, said director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) Nikolai Patrushev.

"We know them in terms of operations and will undertake measures to neutralize their activities meaning either their elimination or arrest and handover for trial," said Mr. Patrushev in an interview to the Moscow NTV channel.

He emphasized that Al-Qaeda was "indeed present on our territory."

To prove the statement Mr. Patrushev reminded the audience of the earlier liquidated leaders of the bandits. "Khattab is a member of Al-Qaeda, who has already killed, Abu al-Valid, who has been killed is also a member of Al-Qaeda succeeded by Abu Haws. All of them are foreign citizens, who stay on Russian territory and are leaders of terrorist groups," said the FSB director.

Mr. Patrushev reminded the audience that Abu Muskhab, who had been recently detained, was also a foreigner, a citizen of Algeria. "In his testimony he says that he has a residence permit of Great Britain and came here to train terrorists and perpetrate terrorist attacks," said the FSB director.
