Galina Simkina, 44, tried to take the Krasnodar-Moscow flight, Natalya Glushko, the head of the press-service of the department of the interior for the Azov and Black seas, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday.
The woman was dressed in black. During the examination of her luggage, the circuits of explosive devices were found. After detention, Simkina tried to explain her actions by the desire to write a report on measures to combat terrorism at airports, said Glushko.
Earlier, a taxi-driver who had given the journalist a lift to the airport called the bodies of the interior. The taxi-driver turned out to be a former policeman and noticed the journalist's strange behavior. Simkina told him that she posed as a suicide bomber in order to write an article.
It is not ruled out that criminal proceedings will be launched in regard to the journalist, said Glushko.
