Evgeni was health service chief at Yugtransgas Co. His kidnappers demanded a million dollar ransom from Alexei, Gasneftbank Directors' Board chair.
Police intended to seize the bandits as they were taking the cash ransom. Moscow officers joined their Saratov colleagues for the arrest, a regional police board man said to Novosti.
Alexei Bandorin was murdered the instant he passed the money. His bodyguard was wounded in an ensuing skirmish, and a police lieutenant and a commando were shot dead.

He was kidnapped two weeks ago on the Saratov-Ust Kurdyum highway. The bandits demanded a million dollar ransom from his brother.
The family reported to the police, and a trap was laid.
