AZERBAIJAN USES RUSSIAN ROUTE TO EXPORT CASPIAN OIL

BAKU, October 4 (RIA Novosti's Gerai Dadashev) - Exports of Azerbaijan's crude oil via the Baku-Novorossiisk (Russian terminal on the Black Sea) oil pipeline totaled 1,987,384 tons in January-September 2004.

According to the press service of the state oil company of the Republic of Azerbaijan, 259,172 tons of oil was exported via this pipeline in September.

In 2004 the state oil company plans to pump 2.5 million tons of crude via this route.

Azerbaijan pays $15.67 to Russia for transit of each ton via the Baku-Novorossiisk pipeline.

All in all, in January-September 2004 the state oil company produced 6,723,900 tons of oil, 0.6% more than in the same period of 2003.

In January-September 2004 Azerbaijan produced over 3.732 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 3.2% less than in the same period of 2003.
