RUSSO-JAPANESE COAST GUARD EXERCISES

VLADIVOSTOK, October 2 (RIA Novosti's Anatoly Ilyukhov) - Peter the Great Bay, near Vladivostok, will host exercises of Russian and Japanese coast guards on October 7, the press center of the Russian Federal Security Service's frontier department in the Maritime Territory informed RIA Novosti on Saturday.

The Japanese side will be represented by crews of two patrol ships, the Soya and the Saroma, of the Japanese Security Department, and a patrol helicopter.

The Russian side will contribute two escort ships, a fast launch and a helicopter.

The program of the maneuvers includes joint assistance to a ship at sea, rescue of people and arrest of an intruder.

The two patrol ships of the Security Department will arrive in Vladivostok on the eve of the exercises, October 6.

The Japanese and Russian coast guards will also discuss issues of interaction and exchange of operation information.
