RUSSIA'S AUDIT CHAMBER TO CHECK COAL TAXES

MOSCOW, September 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Audit Chamber, Russia's highest federal inspection agency, will make a thorough check next year on coal mining corporate tax payments, auditor Vladimir Panskov said to Novosti.

"Our analyses of fiscal arrangements and actual payments warn us the industry has problems-coal companies are not paying taxes in full, as far as we know. I don't think I can comment the point before thorough checks are made. Meanwhile, we are storing in information and getting ready for inspections. We have by now drawn a list of companies to check. The schedule will be finally made, and is expected for approval, within the next two months."

The Gazprom monopoly is likely to make a spectacular presence on the black list-the Chamber has not checked it for three years now. The Tyumen Petroleum Co./British Petroleum, or TNK/BP, may also appear on the list-it has not seen a single inspection for today, remarked our interviewee.
