A spokesperson for the organizing committee told RIA Novosti that more than 180 companies from 15 countries are going to present their products and services at the exhibition on September 18-21.
Ukraine is represented by such high-profile companies as the Antonov Research and Production Complex, Kharkov state aircraft works, Kiev state aircraft factory Aviant, engineering design bureau Yuzhnoye, and the Ukrspetsexport company.
Russia is represented by the Tupolev company, Yakovlev integrated design bureau, Rostvertol, Ulan-Ude aircraft factory (Buryat autonomous republic in the Baikal region). Companies from Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic, Poland, Holland, Sweden, China, Lithuania, the USA and France are also taking part in the exhibition.
The press service pointed out that the 2004 exhibition is distinguished by a particularly vast range of aircraft and equipment on display, including planes, launch boosters, unmanned airborne vehicles, engines and avionics presented in seven thematic sections.
Among other things, special expositions will be set up in the sections of aviation, missile and space engineering; airport equipment and infrastructure; aircraft maintenance and modernization; and disposal of aviation and missile equipment and ammunition.
It is planned to stage exhibition flights of various kinds of airborne vehicles. For example, the Svyatoshin airport is to host an air show featuring flights of light aircraft, hot-air balloons and hang-gliders. Also on the program are exhibition flights of passenger jets An-140 and An-74, as well as those of the world's best cargo aircraft An-124 `Ruslan` and An-225 `Mria`, and the Ukranian-Russian military transport plane An-70.
Ukraine's Defense and Transport and Communications Ministries are responsible for air safetyat the exhibition.
Exhibition flights in the Ukrainian sky will be held for the first time since an air crash at the Sknylov airdrome near Lvov in 2002, when a Su-27 fighter crashed down during an airshow there, killing 77 people. All airshows have been suspended since then by a special presidential decree.
