MOSCOW, September 18 (RIA Novosti) - President of the self-proclaimed republic of South Ossetia Eduard Kokoity is ready to meet with Georgian Prime Minister Zurab Zhvania in Sochi (Russia) in the near future. The South Ossetian leader announced this during the recent meetings in the Russian Foreign Ministry, said the press and information department of the Foreign Ministry.

"It is proposed to discuss additional guarantees of strict observation of the cease-fire agreement, implementation of the decisions of the Join Control Commission on the withdrawal of all illegal military units from the conflict zone and other urgent measures on further conflict settlement and consolidation of trust between the sides," the Foreign Ministry noted.

By the OSCE request South Ossetia does not mind the increase of the mission of OSCE observers in the conflict zone up to ten persons "under the indispensable condition that their work within the existing mandate and responsibility area will be impartial and objective".

Moreover, in connection with the address by OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Solomon Passy, South Ossetia has nothing against a top-level meeting of foreign ministers or their deputies as well as an OSCE representative within the framework of the Join Control Commission, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"At issue will be the increase and consolidation of the commission's status as the only permanent mechanism uniting the four sides involved in the conflict settlement and liquidation of its consequences," the press and information department said.

In Moscow's opinion, this proposals should be considered and approved at the next meeting of the Join Control Commission.
