MOSCOW, September 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia's federal government is going to allocate an additional 1.4 billion roubles for the reconstruction of Chechnya. A resolution to the effect has been signed Saturday by Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov.

According to the Cabinet's press office, the money will go to finance the construction of residential facilities, the development of transportation infrastructure, the implementation of welfare programs, and environmental protection. Part of the sum will be used for restoring regular flights to and from the Severny Airport, in the capital of Grozny, and rebuilding destroyed bridges and highways.

A number of large construction projects will soon be launched in Grozny to provide its residents with affordable housing. Some 38 facilities are to be commissioned here by the year's end, in addition to those planned earlier.

The government resolution is intended for channeling funds into socially important projects in Chechnya, speeding up their implementation, and creating conditions for the partial transfer of control over construction contracts to executive bodies of the Chechen government, explained federal Cabinet spokespeople.
