TIRASPOL, Ausgust 31 (RIA Novosti) - Tiraspol is ready for talks with Cisinau also within the established five-lateral format, including the go-betweens (Russia, Ukraine and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), Transdnestrian leader Igor Smirnov told the news conference in Tiraspol on Tuesday.
"I have to conduct talks in the face of insults from Voronin (President of Moldova)", Smirnov emphasised.
He said that the talks should not focus on the federalisation of Moldova but normalisation between Cisinau and Tiraspol. "How can we talk of federalisation now? It is nonsensical after the imposition of economic blockade, after verbal attacks", the Transdnestrian leader said. "The pressure and confrontation policy has no future in store".
Last week Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin said that there would be no more talks with Tiraspol. "We will continue dialogue with only those to whom Tiraspol is directly subordinated", the Moldovan leader stressed.
