MOSCOW, August 19 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian state sanitary and epidemiological control services discovered plastisol (soft plastic) toys, which are dangerous for children's health, in the Oryol, Bryansk, Kaluga, Yaroslavl, Novosibirsk, Smolensk, Tambov, Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov regions and the Mordovian, Buryat and Chuvash Republics. Their sale was suspended.
According to experts, the toys do not meet the permissible levels of contents of chemical substances, sound and smell, reads the Thursday letter by Lyudmila Gulchenko, deputy head of the federal service for consumer rights and wellbeing, addressed to heads of the state sanitary and epidemiological control services.
"In all cases the sale of toys was suspended and administrative measures were taken. In some regions the cases were taken to prosecutor's offices. The examination of toys for sale is underway," the letter says.
Meanwhile, over 20 regions have not submitted the results of plastisol toys' examination, the document runs.
