MOSCOW, August 18 (RIA Novosti) - The Yukos oil giant is disputing legality of the Yuganskneftegas stockholder register arrested. The Moscow Arbitration Court has suspended hearings to Tuesday, August 24, for the litigants to collect supplementary papers, RIA Novosti correspondent reports from courtroom.

Preliminary hearings finished at the latest court session, August 10.

As we reported from a session of June 29, the Board of Appeal of the Moscow Arbitration Court confirmed a verdict for the Yukos to pay 99.342 billion rubles, roughly $3.4 billion, as back taxes for 2000. Bailiffs started proceedings the next day. Dmitry Borisov, municipal bailiff for Moscow's Central District, arrested the Yuganskneftegas block and register, July 14. The Yuganskneftegas is the largest Yukos oil-extracting affiliate.

Yukos lawyers doubted arrest legality, and so appealed to the Arbitration Court.
