PRESIDENT PUTIN HOLDS ROUTINE MEETINGS WITH PREMIER, NATIONAL SECURITY OFFICIALS

MOSCOW, August 14 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Vladimir Putin held a routine meeting with Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov on Saturday. According to the President's Press Officer, Alexei Gromov, Vladimir Putin and Mikhail Fradkov considered a variety of issues related to Russia's socio-economic development.

Later in the day, the President met with National Security Council officials to discuss Russia's interior and foreign policies, the presidential spokesman reports.

Mr. Putin also decreed the transfer of Yuri Fedotov from his current position to that of Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr. Gromov says.

In addition, he signed into law a National Courier Service draft, allowing the Service to have two deputy directors and up to four specialized departments and establishing an eleven-member board.
