WINDOW TO EUROPE FILM FESTIVAL OPENS IN VYBORG

ST. PETERSBURG, August 12 (RIA Novosti's Maxim Nichiporenko) - The 12th Window to Europe Russian film festival is a key event in the cultural life of Vyborg (Leningrad region's north), head of the local culture department Zoya Fedoseyeva said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

"This festival attracts many participants and spectators who interested both in the festival and Vyborg's sights," she said.

The festival will run from August 13 to 21 and open with Renata Litvinova's film "Goddess".

Three contests of feature films, documentaries and cartoons will be judged by three independent juries during the festival.

All in all, 60 films, including 13 feature films, will be shown in Vyborg.

All feature films will compete in the Vyborg Score special contest.

The jury of this contest comprises all participants, guests and spectators who fill in special questionnaires after each film. The Vyborg Score prize is awarded at the closing ceremony based on the results of the questionnaire.

The program of this special contest includes popular movies "A Driver for Vera" by Pavel Chukhrai, "Games of Butterflies" by Andrei Proshkin, "About Love" by Sergei Solovyov, "Ours" by Dmitry Meskhiyev, who won the Grand-Prix of the Moscow international film festival, etc.
