NEW DELHI, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - During the Days of Indian Culture in Russia Indian artists will give 13 concerts, Nina Ranjan, Indian deputy minister of culture and tourism, said in a RIA Novosti interview on Wednesday.

According to her, preparations for the Culture Days, which will be held in Moscow, Ufa and St. Petersburg from September 21 to 31, are in full swing. The official opening ceremony will take place on the Bolshoi Theater's new stage in Moscow on September 23.

"Indian and Russian cultures have much in common in many spheres," she said. "We see intensive cultural exchange in cultural spheres, which will continue in the future," the deputy minister noted.

"We organized four teams of classical Indian music, classical dance, folk dance and music and modern dance. The cast has already been fixed. We would like to show our best," Nina Ranjan said.

Moreover, four modern dance ensembles from Mumbai will come, she added.

The Russian audience will get acquainted with the richest musical and choreographic traditions of this many-sided and multi-ethnic country. Indian artists are to give concerts of classical vocal-instrumental and folk music, present classical and folk dancing styles, dancing drama and pieces of modern drama art.

Nina Ranjan proposed showing Indian movies in Russia. "As far as I know our movies have always been popular in your country," she said.

According to her, the Indian delegation comprising 120 people will be led by Minister of Tourism and Culture Jaipal Reddy.

In November 2003 the Days of Russian Culture in India were held in New Delhi, Mumbai and Calcutta. Now Indian guests will pay a return visit to Russia.
