MINSK, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - The Belarussian Foreign Ministry did not deny entry visas to U.S. congressmen, press secretary of the Belarussian Foreign Ministry Andrei Savinykh told RIA Novosti on Wednesday.

"We are much surprised with Senator McCain's statement that the Belarussian Foreign Ministry allegedly prohibited a U.S. Congress delegation to visit Belarus. This statement makes us doubt its decision," Mr. Savinykh said.

The Belarussian side welcomed the U.S. congressmen's visit to Belarus and expressed readiness to work out a program of the visit, he stressed.

"Usually both sides coordinate the events and terms of the visit," Andrei Savinykh noted.

According to him, the visit's terms proposed by the U.S. side did not suit Belarus.

"Nevertheless, the Belarussian Foreign Ministry, which is interested in the development of constructive dialogue with the U.S., proposed to postpone the visit until the election campaigns in the United States and Belarus are over," Mr. Savinykh continued.

In his opinion, the new terms can provide better preparations and program of the visit.

On Wednesday senator McCain's statement that the Belarussian Foreign Ministry denied entry visas to the U.S. delegation appeared in mass media.
