MOSCOW, August 11 (RIA Novosti) - An RS-18 training intercontinental ballistic missile has been successfully launched from the Baikonur space center, a spokesman for the press service of the Space Forces told RIA Novosti.

The launch, which took place at 2:25 p.m. Moscow time, was successful. The missile was to be launched yesterday, but due to unfavorable weather its start was put off till Wednesday," the spokesman said.

According to him, it was unfavorable weather conditions, not technical malfunctions that delayed the launching. "The launch was carried out successfully," underscored the press service spokesman.

He specified that the RS-18 rocket is in service since 1985 and can be turned into a MIRV. Such systems are on combat duty in the Tatishchev and the Kozelsk units of the Strategic Missile Troops, a spokesman for these forces said in his turn.
