STATE COMMISSION BEGINS DECIPHERING "BLACK BOXES" OF CRASHED MI-8 HELICOPTER

TYUMEN, August 7. (RIA Novosti) - The commission will begin deciphering the "black boxes" of the Mi-8 helicopter, which crashed in the Yamal-Nenets autonomous area in the north of Western Siberia, on Saturday.

The civil defence and emergency situations department of the area reported that the day before the commission of the inter-state aviation committee arrived in Salekhard (the administrative center of the autonomous area) from Moscow to investigate the circumstances of the crash.

On Saturday the commission will leave for the town of Noyabrsk where its members will begin deciphering the onboard self-recorders. At the present time the "black boxes" are kept in the prosecutor's office of Noyabrsk

The Mi-8 helicopter of the Yamal aircraft company crashed on Thursday, August 5 when making a forced landing in the Noyabrsk district, the south of the area. The helicopter inspected local forests. The crew communicated with the dispatcher of the Noyabrsk airport last time at 9.00, Moscow time, and reported the forced landing. Then communication was interrupted.

When landing the helicopter caught fire. Sixteen people, who were on board, died.
