MOSCOW, August 3 (RIA Novosti) - Mozambique highly appraises Russia's share in the peacekeeping efforts in Africa, "including its G8 activities towards increasing the anticrisis potential of the Africans".

Such is the estimate of Russia's work in the African direction made at the meeting on Tuesday between Russian deputy foreign minister Yuri Fedotov and Goncalves Sengo, director of the International Organisations and Conferences Department of the Foreign Ministry of Mozambique.

"During the conversation, the coincidence was noted between the positions of Russia and Mozambique on a wide range of questions such as formation, at the UN central role, of a global system of counteraction to modern challenges and threats", RIA Novosti was told at the Press and Information Board of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"Much attention was given to the problem of struggle, under the UN aegis, against international terrorism", the communique reads.

Goncalves Sengo informed the Russian side of Mozambique's participation as a member of the African Union in the crisis-response efforts, as well as the realisation of the programme New Partnership for Africa's Development, aimed at converting the continent into a zone of socio-economic and political stability.
