RUSSIA'S ENERGY HOLDING INCREASES ITS AID TO CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, July 27 (RIA Novosti) - In 2004 incorporated business Russia's Unified Energy Systems will allocate 1.6 bln rubles ($1 approximately 29 rubles) on the restoration of the Chechen energy complex, the company's statement reads.

In accordance with the pre-planned schedule, Russia's UES continues to restore the destroyed in the course of the military actions electric and energy complex of the Chechen republic. In the first half of the current year the company allocated 619.10 mln rubles for this purpose, which 100% complies with the financial plan for this particular period, the press-release continues.

According to the company's data as of July 1, 242 km of high-voltage lines as well as 128 transformer substations were restored and put into operation. More than 1,500 specialists and about 200 pieces of special machines are involved in the Chechen electricity restoration works.

The obligations of the customer of the restoration works at the objects of the electric and energy complex in Chechnya and their further maintenance are carried out by Russia's UES daughter company Nurenergo (Nur means light in the Chechen language).

"The total volume of the financial means, which is planned to be allocated on the restoration works in Chechnya in 2004, amounts to 1,605 mln rubles, including 300 mln rubles out of the Russia's UES targeted investment program," the statement reads.

Works on the restoration and technical reinstallation of the Argun thermoelectric plant continue as well. The putting into operation of the first phase of the plant and its all infrastructure is scheduled for the fall of the current year, Russia's UES reported.

Moreover, the restoration works are almost completed at the main distribution substation (GRP-110) in Grozny. The putting into operation of this particular object will considerably increase the provision of the republic's capital with electricity, the statement reads further.

The works on the electrification of the distant situated mountainous villages continue as well.

The resumption of work of a number of the republic's net energy objects enable to provide a standard provision of the majority living localities with electricity. The energy consumption in Chechnya continues to increase and, according to Russia's UES estimations, will reach this year 1,300 mln kWh.
