The signal will before long be received across Chechnya and everybody here will see the Olympic Games, beginning on August 13.
"Now Chechnen people will see sport transmissions from the whole world and Europe, all the championships and the Olympic Games", Alu Alkhanov said at the official opening ceremony. He is the chairman of the Public Council for the Recovery of the Chechen Economy and the Social Sphere.
Mr. Alkhanov called the Sport telecasting "a big gift" to the people of Chechnya.
VGTRK chairman Oleg Dobrodeyev recalled that former Chechen President Akhmad Kadyrov had looked forward to seeing launch of the Sport channel in Chechnya.
"Akhmad Kadyrov often said that it was his dream to see the Sport channel in the Chechen Republic. All VGTRK employees and I are happy that his dream has come true and the Sport channel is now in Chechnya", Mr. Dobrodeyev said.
Several federal TV channels, such as Channel 1, Rossiya, NTV, Ren-TV and STS, are now telecast in Chechnya. Their programs are transmitted in the Chechen language by the Chechen State Television and Radio Company.
