TBILISI, July 14 (RIA Novosti) - On July 14, the court of Batumi on application of the Adzharian Prosecutor's Office returned the verdict to distress the property of Aslan Abashidze, former head of this Georgian autonomy, and his family members, the Adzharian Prosecutor's Office told RIA Novosti.

The court session lasted for about an hour and was concluded by judge Merab Pagava's reading the verdict in the presence of reporters.

The court's ruling distressed 15 limited liability companies, including Vozrozhdenie-M, Vozrozhdenie-N and the Batumi tennis club, owned by the Abashidze family, whose debt to the state amounted to over $30 million. Put under arrest were also two villas with land plots in Makhindzhauri, owned by Diana Abashidze, daughter of the autonomy's former head.

Adzharia's prosecutor Georgy Papuashvili told reporters in Batumi that "the case of the Abashidze family property was thoroughly investigated". "The investigation is working intensively in all directions, rechecking what property the Abashidzes possess", said the prosecutor.

"Distressed now is the property, upon which the investigation has cleared up all details. The work in this direction continues, and probably within two days the prosecutor's office will apply to the court to distress other property", said the prosecutor.

Aslan Abashidze was, in fact, overthrown by Georgia's authorities and left the country in mid-June.
