PARIS, July 2 (RIA Novosti) - President of the Financial Action Task Force on money laundering Claes Norgren highly assessed Russia's participation in FATF activities.
Recently FATF pointed out a number of gaps in the Russian legislation connected with the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing, Mr. Norgren told RIA Novosti on Friday.
"Having displayed remarkable political will, the Russian authorities have corrected all drawbacks," he noted.
According to him, today Russia is one of the most active FATF members.
Moreover, Claes Norgren highly estimated Russia's initiative on the formation of a FATF regional analogue in Eurasia.
This initiative confirms Russia's political will and striving for leadership in the fight against terrorist financing and money laundering, Mr. Norgren stressed.
In his words, FATF is ready to assist the formation of the regional group.
